Marilyn Tain Artist Headshot
Marilyn Tain stands in an art studio surrounded by sketches and paintings of figures, her hand resting on a large, paint-splattered table.

About Marilyn

I am a Cuban-born multidisciplinary artist living and creating in New York City. Art has always been my first language—the way I move through the world, make sense of it, and connect with others. For as long as I can remember, creating has been a space where joy, tension, and curiosity coexist.

I work on canvas and paper with acrylics, oils, mixed media, and photography. My practice is rooted in bold color, layered texture, and emotional resonance. Each work is a verb—alive, in motion, part of an unfolding conversation. My goal is to invite the viewer in—not just to look, but to feel, respond, and imagine.

My work has been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally, and is held in private collections around the world.

Much of my inspiration comes from the textures of everyday life—architecture, conversation, sound, literature, movement, memory. When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me in museums, bookstores, and unfamiliar cities, sketchbook in hand—always watching, listening, learning.

Art, for me, is both presence and possibility.
